Position overview
allnex is looking for a Technical Service Chemist to join the team in the Technical Service Lab in Samut Prakan, Thailand! As a Technical Service Chemist, you will drive product adoption and customer satisfaction across Thailand by providing hands-on technical support for Metal Packaging and Phenolic Crosslinker, collaborating on new product development, and aligning regional activities with global business strategies.

Responsibilities
- Customer Technical Support
- Conduct regular on-site visits to metal packaging customers in Thailand and the Phenolic XLR segment to deliver technical service, troubleshoot challenges, and build high-confidence relationships.
- Provide tailored resin and paint solutions, product range introductions, and hands-on demonstrations to targeted market segments.
- Laboratory Development & R&D Coordination
- Perform lab-based experiments and product testing at the Thailand technical laboratory to support troubleshooting, product optimization, and scale-up efforts.
- Act as the bridge between customer insights and R&D, contributing customer-driven requirements to new-product development and ensuring alignment with marketing strategy.
- Project Management & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Manage Technical Service (TS) projects end-to-end, allocating resources effectively to meet customer and business objectives.
- Collaborate closely with the Sales, TS&D, and Marketing teams to execute coordinated strategies and marketing plans that support metal packaging and phenolic crosslinker business targets, consistent with global priorities.
- Work with sales managers and product line managers to prioritise projects, target key customers, and convert opportunities into sales.
- Regional Technology & Portfolio Support
- Liaise with Technical Service teams in other regions to identify and introduce new technologies and products into the SEAO sub-region.
- Proactively monitor market trends and customer needs to recommend adjustments to the product portfolio and marketing approach, ensuring competitiveness.
- Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Complete tasks and initiatives assigned by supervising managers, coordinating with co-workers and other departments to achieve departmental goals.
- Maintain and improve laboratory conditions in compliance with SHE guidelines, OSHA targets, and Quality & Environmental policies, striving for zero environmental incidents.
Required skills and experience
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience in the coatings or coatings-resin industry, including technical service or development roles.
- Demonstrated track record of long-term contribution in coating or related industries, with a minimum of three years in technical functions.
- Strong knowledge of coatings technology and resin systems.
- Ability to translate technical solutions into business value and manage customer relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written proficiency in English and the local language; able to engage effectively across diverse, multicultural teams.
- Proven team player with the interpersonal skills to collaborate across sales, marketing, R&D and operations.
- Sharp analytical skills, sound judgement and a data-driven approach to problem solving.
- Deep understanding of market trends, customer needs and competitive landscape.
- Self-starter with a strong desire for challenge and continuous improvement.
- Willingness to travel regularly within the region to support customer visits and field projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Chemistry or a related field.
