Position overview
Internship Opportunity – Development of a Predictive Model for Solvent Removal
For our site in Drogenbos, we are looking for a motivated intern for a minimum internship period of 180 hours. During this internship, you will have the opportunity to contribute to an exciting and innovative project focused on the development of a predictive model for solvent removal.
Are you interested in data analysis, process optimization, and the chemical industry? Then this internship project may be the perfect opportunity for you.
Within our production facility, laboratory analyses are regularly performed during the solvent removal phase to determine when the process can be stopped. The objective of this internship is to analyze available historical process data and develop a predictive model capable of accurately forecasting, based on existing production parameters, when the desired end condition has been reached. Your work will directly contribute to the optimization of our production processes.
Responsibilities
What Will You Do?
• Collect and analyze historical batch production data.
• Identify the key process parameters that influence solvent removal.
• Investigate correlations between process parameters and analytical results.
• Develop a predictive model to determine the optimal stopping point for the solvent removal process.
• Validate the model using historical and/or ongoing production data.
• Formulate recommendations for implementation within the production environment.
Expected Outcomes
This project will help debottleneck the production facility by:
• Reducing batch cycle times.
• Increasing production capacity.
• Reducing the number of required laboratory analyses.
• Supporting more consistent and data-driven process decisions.
Required skills and experience
• Student in Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong interest in data analysis, statistics, and process optimization.
• Knowledge of Excel and Seeq or similar analytical tools is considered an asset.
• Analytical mindset and ability to work independently in a production environment.
• Good knowledge of Dutch or French. Knowledge of English is an additional advantage.
• Available for an internship of at least 180 hours.
