Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Intern

Internship Details

  • Project Duration: Up to 12 weeks - May to August.
  • Compensation: Between $20 to $24/hr - depending on education year & experience.
  • Hours/Week: Up to 40 hours.

Position overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Intern to join our team and focus on improving equipment uptime, enhancing reliability, and driving process improvements. This internship provides hands-on experience in the maintenance and optimization of mechanical systems, fostering innovative problem-solving and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot equipment performance/malfunctions to identify downtime trends and root causes.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to implement strategies for enhancing reliability and minimizing unplanned downtime.
  • Assess current maintenance and operational processes, identifying areas for efficiency gains.
  • Collect and analyze data related to equipment failure rates, maintenance schedules, and repair costs.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders and document resolutions/lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all work adheres to safety protocols and aligns with industry standards and regulations and participate in safety audits while supporting initiatives to improve workplace safety.
  • Work closely with engineers, technicians, and operators to gain insights and develop practical solutions.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at improving overall operational reliability.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related degree.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, reliability principles, and maintenance best practices. 
  • Ability to document processes and track issues methodically.
