Position Overview

We are looking for a Process Engineering Chemist to join our team in Wiesbaden, Germany. You will be accountable for the execution and management of local and global projects utilizing capabilities of the Process Engineering Laboratory and Pilot Plant Wiesbaden.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee new product scale-up at Wiesbaden Pilot Plant and support production transfer, including Process Hazard Assessment and Technology Transfer Protocols.
  • Plan, prepare, supervise, and execute trials at Wiesbaden Pilot Plant in collaboration with various departments.
  • Design and conduct lab trials in the Process Engineering Laboratory, including assembling experimental setups.
  • Analyse and evaluate trial results, recommend manufacturing improvements, and support their implementation at production scale.
  • Search for improvement opportunities in the manufacturing processes with focus on safety, cost, capacity, and productivity optimization.
  • Seek methods to reduce the energy footprint of production processes.
  • Provide technical support for product transfers and troubleshooting.
  • Help prepare and update manufacturing documentation (SOPs, manufacturing instructions, QC procedures).
  • Supervise and train laboratory technicians, trainees, and apprentices.
  • Maintain communication and exchange information with external equipment manufacturers.

Required skills and experience

  • PhD in Chemistry (preferably organic, technical, or physical).
  • Strong knowledge of organic, physical, and technical chemistry.
  • 0-2 years’ experience in the chemical industry, preferably in resins manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in lab experimentation and analytical techniques.
  • Familiarity with unit operations (distillation, extraction, filtration).
  • Preferably experience with process simulation software (Aspen, ChemCAD) and SAP.
  • Effective communication in German and English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic project management knowledge.
