Job Details

  • Hourly Wage: $42.87/hour.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Occasional Saturdays may be required. 
  • Benefits: 2 weeks’ vacation (prorated this year); 3 sick days; 11 holidays a year; Local Bonus Plan; Full medical benefits offered; 401K company match up to 6% (dollar for dollar).

Position overview

We are looking for a hands-on and versatile Combined Craft Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of plant equipment and infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient operations. You will work closely with supervisors, team leads, and cross-functional teams to support maintenance activities, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, dismantle, repair, and maintain plant equipment, including piping systems, pumps, valves, and emergency services equipment, ensuring proper alignment, testing, and functionality.
  • Fabricate, layout, construct, alter, and repair piping, structural steel, wooden structures, and minor refractory or concrete/cement structures.
  • Conduct inspections on plant equipment such as gearboxes, slings, hoists, cranes, and rigging systems, supporting maintenance and repair activities as needed.
  • Remove and replace insulation as part of assembling, disassembling, and repairing pipes and fittings.
  • Support WWTP operations when required, including operating presses and performing tasks not requiring certification (e.g., installing liners in waste roll-offs).
  • Utilize appropriate tools, equipment, and devices to complete assigned tasks, including operating automatic welding machines when qualified.
  • Ensure clear communication and coordination with departments and plant personnel, maintaining accurate updates and documentation as needed.
  • Follow all safety and environmental standards, procedures, and regulations, while assisting other crafts and performing additional duties as assigned by management.

Required skills and experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in piping and/or equipment repair.
  • Experience with local technical standards related to process piping, heat exchangers, pressure vessels and storage tanks.
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines on a multitude of tasks.
  • Ability to quickly assess problems and able to process workable solutions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Welding certification required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to exert up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 30 lbs. frequently.
  • Significant standing and walking required.
  • Vision must be good or corrected to normal to perform job duties.
  • Hearing must be sufficient to understand and process information.
  • Ability to read and write in English to complete documentation and follow instructions.
