Position overview
Are you a student looking for an internship in a globally leading industrial company? We are looking for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and member of a talented and dynamic team.
The strategic innovation group of allnex in Wageningen (NL) has an opening for academic chemistry, physics or material science trainee with a start date of September 1st 2024 or later if desired.
Our group has been hosting academic trainees for over two decades, without exception with challenging topics that are typically multidisciplinary, involving preparative work, analysis, and physical characterization from the perspective of an application in paints and coatings.
Responsibilities
- Participate in one or more projects on novel innovative products, their preparation and characterization of their structure, and their relation with their application performance.
- Investigating new ideas for company innovation as well as gaining a better understanding of the challenges in our market that require technical solutions.
- Set up experiments and tests following detailed instructions and procedures.
- Prepare, complete, update, and maintain all reports, records, and documentation as assigned.
- Assists in the development of various analytical methods for the lab.
Required skills and experience
- Academic education in (polymer) chemistry or physics.
- Practical experience in organic, polymer, or colloid chemistry with characterization and understanding of material behavior, or with affinity for preparation of such materials.
- Interest in doing innovative research.
- Working safely in a chemistry lab.
- Team player.
- Creative and practical, result-oriented.
- Good communication skills, fluent in English.
Qualifications
- Academic student, preferably this traineeship is done as part of the master's program. The minimum duration of this traineeship is 6 months, and the maximum duration is 12 months.
- Some practical experience working in a chemical laboratory is needed
