Position overview
allnex is looking for a QC Chemist to join our Quality Control team in Wacol, Queensland. In this role, you will provide technical expertise and support for QC laboratory operations, ensuring accurate, reliable, and timely testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. You will play a key role in quality investigations, method troubleshooting, equipment management, and continuous improvement initiatives, while collaborating closely with Production, Technical, and Quality teams to maintain high standards of product quality, safety, and compliance.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and decision-making support for 24/5 Quality Control (QC) laboratory operations.
- Review and approve non-routine, complex, and borderline analytical results.
- Lead investigations related to Out-of-Specification (OOS) results, laboratory deviations, and quality incidents.
- Troubleshoot analytical methods and drive improvements to method robustness and reliability.
- Train, mentor, and assess competency of QC Technicians to ensure high laboratory standards.
- Act as the key liaison between Quality Control, Production, Technical, and Quality teams.
- Manage laboratory equipment, including troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance, and operational readiness.
- Support customer complaint investigations and project-related analytical assessments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory performance, efficiency, and compliance.
- Provide testing and analytical support to cross-functional teams, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of results.
Required skills and experience
- 5 years of experience in a relevant field.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively.
- A proactive, methodical, and hands-on approach to laboratory operations.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Positive attitude with a continuous learning mindset.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, or a similar field.
