Position overview

allnex is looking for a Maintenance Technician with good problem-solving and strong interpersonal skills to join our team in Melaka, Malaysia. In this role, you will be responsible to assist the E&I Engineer to carry out mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance work for process equipment, plant facilities, and general building, as well as, ensure all in safe and good working condition. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections on production/utility/WWTP equipment to identify abnormalities.
  • Repair and maintain machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining preventive maintenance programs for machinery, instruments, and utilities.
  • Provide weekend call-back and holiday coverage as needed.
  • Be fully available and reachable by mobile phone or landline at all times in case of emergencies.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls from the control room, regardless of time or location. If outstation during weekends or public holidays, provide a contact number (on a landline) to the immediate superior.
  • Assist superiors in troubleshooting and resolving problems efficiently, consulting them for critical equipment breakdowns.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance tasks.
  • Record and report daily work activities through work order reporting.
  • Assist in establishing and managing spare parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with vendors to address equipment issues if necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the maintenance workshop and areas where maintenance work is conducted.
  • Provide recommendations for maintenance tasks and equipment improvements.
  • Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental regulations relevant to the business sector and comply with government regulations.
  • Undertake any additional duties as assigned by superiors.

Required skills and experience

  • 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in the Chemical industry 
  • Experience with mechanical and E&I machinery 
  • Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and instrumentation problem
  • Strong safety awareness and practice
  • Knowledge of utilities such as compressor, cooling tower, heater and electrical.
  • Able to read engineering drawing (mechanical/electrical).
  • Familiarity with SHE procedures in manufacturing environment
  • Plant & building maintenance trouble shooting skills
  • Problem solving skills 
  • Able to operate computer software/application
  • Cooperative, team player
  • Fabrication, welding and pipe fitting knowledge
     

Qualifications

  • Certificate/Diploma in Electrical/Instrumentation or Mechanical/Mechatronic related field
