Position overview

allnex is looking for a Safety, Health, & Environment (SHE) Engineer to join the team in Suzhou, China! As a SHE Engineer, you will ensure site activities comply with applicable local SHE laws and regulations, as well as allnex corporate and site SHE standards. Working closely with employees, contractors, suppliers and relevant government authorities, you will help strengthen our SHE culture through regular inspections, training, incident investigation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily SHE inspections and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of the site SHE management system.
  • Deliver SHE induction and training to employees, contractors, suppliers and visitors as required.
  • Organise and support regular SHE Committee meetings, inspections and related follow-up activities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with relevant local government authorities regarding SHE matters and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis and prepare reports.
  • Conduct 5S audits, prepare reports and follow up on improvement actions.
  • Organise and support emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills, emergency evacuation exercises and other SHE drills.
  • Coordinate the maintenance, inspection and certification of SHE-related equipment to ensure it remains compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Prepare and submit SHE-related government applications, reports, registrations and online regulatory submissions, and support government inspections as required.
  • Promote SHE awareness across the site and support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the site's overall SHE performance.

Required skills and experience

  • Good understanding of workplace safety, occupational health and environmental regulations and practices.
  • Able to conduct SHE inspections, identify potential risks and follow through on corrective actions.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, contractors and external authorities.
  • Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail.
  • Able to prepare reports, maintain SHE documentation and manage regulatory submissions accurately.
  • Proactive, responsible and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Possess a Safety Management Certificate for Hazardous Chemicals, or other relevant certification required for the role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Safety, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
