Position overview

Are you interested in learning more about Business Controller role in the world leading industrial coating resins company? allnex is inviting you to join our team as a Regional Business Controller, based in Shanghai, China to help to guide our organization into the future. In this role, you play a key role in achieving the Regions financial objectives and assist the Regional Business Director (RBD) to understand financial results and achieve growth objectives. You are responsible for providing performance measurements and financial analysis support of the business unit and to act as principal financial/competitive information provider to the strategic business unit.

As a locally based controller, you will be a key contact point for queries for all businesses in the region, and will need to discuss with other controllers/analysts in the region for other businesses to ensure communication is aligned.

  • Act as the key finance contact for APAC, regional Business Director and representative on Business leadership teams.
  • Participate in the development of business cases for investments, financial projections, as well as potential acquisitions, due diligence, and assimilation of new entities.
  • Support and analyze monthly business unit closing, paying close attention to sales, cost of goods sold, and departmental spending.
  • Ensure appropriate compensating controls in place for internal control and audit purposes in such areas as rebate accruals, inventory write offs for SMOG, product claims etc.
  • Challenge the entities where they see inconsistencies, to bring further consistency to the business results.
  • Produce required monthly business unit analysis and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare monthly ‘Ops Review’ presentation, co-ordinate input as necessary and attend monthly Ops Review to explain the financial performance of the business to the business leaders.
  • Coordinate and prepare quarterly business unit financial forecasts.
  • Support the business preparing the strategic plans. 
  • Track sales and profitability performance by product, customer and region.
  • Coordinate and calculate the sales incentive program outcome for their respective business.
  • Provide analysis and support to Product Managers, Marketing and the Sales force as well as the business unit leadership team
  • Perform periodically requested special financial analyses as required by corporate/business unit leadership including evaluation of growth or strategic capital investments or divestitures.
  • Track key performance measures for business unit.
  • Support the APAC Business Controller and take on co-ordination roles for global exercises as requested.
  • Support East Asia region by acting as finance business partner to local business teams and to work with the other business controllers/analysts to respond to general business questions.

Required skills and experience

  • 5+ years’ progressive experience working in a financial business environment, including the areas of business analysis or financial analysis and cost accounting.
  • Solid experience working in manufacturing environment or BIG4 accounting firms.
  • Proven project management experience is an added advantage.  
  • Strong analytical skills with a problem solving mindset.
  • Highly proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and other processing software programs.
  • High skills with database management.
  • Practical experience generating process documentation and reports.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Good interpersonal skills.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Statistics.
  • CA/CMA/CPA/ACCA qualified or other local certifications with emphasis on continuing education in all areas of accounting and finance is desired.
