Position overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Legal Counsel to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will provide legal advice to internal clients within the EMEA region and support the legal function across a broad range of corporate, commercial, procurement and regulatory matters. This role requires strong analytical skills, discretion, strong legal research skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the General Counsel EMEA by reviewing a wide range of standard contracts, including IT agreements, procurement contracts, NDAs, and general business agreements.
- Handle corporate housekeeping tasks and conduct ongoing legal research to monitor and analyze developments in relevant legislation.
- Assist General Counsel EMEA in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures.
- Assist General Counsel EMEA in the creation of legal/compliance training materials, update of contract templates, development of risk mitigation strategies, litigation/dispute resolution and other legal matters.
Required skills and experience
- Around 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- A Master degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent) from a recognized European university.
- Experience in areas such as IT contracts, commercial contracts, corporate law, compliance, data protection (GDPR) is highly valued.
- Proficiency in English and Latvian, written and spoken, is required. Any other language is a plus.
- Admission to a Bar Association within Europe is preferred.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Ability to analyze legal risks and provide practical business-oriented advice.
- Familiarity with EU regulations and Latvian legal frameworks.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
- Ideally experience, or at least, interested in legal innovation by leveraging AI-powered legal technologies.
