Position overview
As CAPEX Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the company’s financial and growth objectives by providing analytical and strategic support for the CAPEX planning and decision-making process. You will drive continuous improvement of the CAPEX process, coordinate the review and approval of capital project proposals, prepare monthly CAPEX reporting (actuals and forecasts), and support the preparation of the annual CAPEX budget and 5-year plan, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
The role provides the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations (Sr. VP, Regional Manufacturing Directors, Site Managers), Business/Commercial (Regional VPs), and Finance (FP&A).
Responsibilities
Process:
- Review our existing CAPEX process and drive improvements and simplifications to the process.
- Support the implementation and manage a Stage-Gate CAPEX process to control our various strategic capacity expansion projects.
- Be the key contact for the CAPEX request system, incl. the internal and external approval process.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies related to capital expenditure.
- Manage and maintain documentation of CAPEX processes, approvals, and financial justifications.
- Coordinate / support capex project post-completion reviews.
Reporting & KPIs:
- Monthly monitor and reporting actual CAPEX spending vs. budget / forecast.
- Assist in the preparation of investment opportunities for senior management (MT review), AC endorsement and PTT GC approval incl. IC meeting.
- Continuous improvement of CAPEX KPI dashboard.
- Prepare and submit monthly CAPEX reporting for PTT GC.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Support the preparation of the annual CAPEX budget and 5-year plan, incorporating input from various functions such as Operations (e.g. Site Managers, SHE), R&D, Sustainability, Commercial, Finance, etc.
- Prepare and submit annual Budget and Long-term plan CAPEX reporting to PTT GC.
Financial analysis:
- Analyze and evaluate CAPEX proposals for financial viability and strategic alignment.
- Work closely with project managers to understand project details and assumptions.
- Provide analytical support for key investment decisions, offering insights into the financial implications and risks associated with proposed projects.
- Define approach and parameters to prioritize our strategic and investment projects.
Required skills and experience
- Around 5 years of progressive experience working in a financial business environment, including the areas of financial analysis and cost accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Engineering; with strong interest to continuous learning and development . (An MBA, MS, CMA, or CPA qualification is a strong plus).
- Global business perspective and a deep understanding of the Coatings industry, including customers, products, operations, and business challenges.
- Proven ability to identify improvement opportunities, implement solutions, and promote adoption of best practices.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional priorities and driving collaboration across teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with solid proficiency in spreadsheets and data analytics.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven leadership skills with a proactive, assertive approach.
