Position overview

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Technology Manager to lead our Synthesis & Analytical Sciences laboratory in Mumbai, India. Reporting to the APAC R&D Director, this leadership role is responsible for shaping the innovation strategy, driving technology advancement, and delivering commercially successful solutions that support long-term business growth.

As a key member of the regional leadership team, you will lead a multidisciplinary R&D organization, transforming customer insights and market opportunities into innovative products and technologies. You will collaborate closely with Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Global R&D teams to accelerate innovation, strengthen technical capabilities, and ensure successful commercialization across the business.

 

This role offers the opportunity to influence the future direction of our technology portfolio while developing high-performing teams and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the R&D strategy to deliver innovative, customer-focused resin technologies aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead the end-to-end development and commercialization of new products, from opportunity identification through market launch.
  • Partner with customers and commercial teams to translate market needs into impactful innovation projects and technical solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership in resin synthesis, analytical sciences, formulation development, and technology transfer to manufacturing.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing R&D organization while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the R&D project portfolio, ensuring effective prioritization, resource optimization, and timely delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to drive cross-functional execution, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and sustainable business growth.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies to strengthen the company’s innovation pipeline and competitive position.

Required skills and experience

  • 10 years and above of progressive experience in Research & Development within the coatings, resins, polymers, specialty chemicals, adhesives, or related chemical manufacturing industries, including significant experience in technical leadership.
  • Demonstrated success leading R&D organizations, driving innovation strategies, and delivering new products from concept through commercialization.
  • Strong technical expertise in polymer chemistry, resin synthesis, analytical sciences, formulation development, and technology transfer within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to translate customer and market opportunities into strategic innovation projects by partnering closely with commercial teams and customers.
  • Extensive experience managing complex R&D project portfolios, including prioritization, resource planning, budgeting, risk management, and execution.
  • Strong leadership capability with a successful track record of building, coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing technical teams while fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Quality, and Global R&D functions.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance innovation, customer needs, operational feasibility, and business objectives.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, presentation, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience working within a multinational and matrix organization with regional or global stakeholder exposure is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Advanced technical expertise in resin synthesis, polymer chemistry, coatings technology, or specialty chemicals.
