Position overview
Join allnex as the Quality Manager at our plant in Mahad, India and you’ll be the go-to expert for all things quality, providing strong leadership and guidance to ensure our site operates at the highest standards. Your mission? To continuously enhance our Site Quality Management System, driving measurable improvements in quality performance through well-defined KPIs.
You'll collaborate closely with the global Quality Management Team and work cross-functionally to spearhead quality improvement initiatives, share best practices, and implement them effectively on-site.
Beyond that, you'll oversee QA lab operations and administrative processes, ensuring they run smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with both corporate and legal regulations. If you're passionate about quality, teamwork, and making a real impact, this role is for you!
Responsibilities
- Oversee product quality, lab testing, and in-process controls for raw materials and finished products, ensuring everything meets the highest standards.
- Manage and continuously develop the site's Quality Management System (QMS) to align with relevant standards like ISO 9001:2015.
- Keep the site fully compliant with legal, corporate, and regulatory requirements, integrating business policies into the QMS.
- Maintain all quality-related certifications, prepare for audits, and develop systems for new certifications as needed.
- Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, and Sales to ensure a seamless approach to quality.
- Use quality tools like Six Sigma, Lean, 5S, and Root Cause Analysis to drive process improvements and reduce defects.
- Investigate quality issues, implement corrective actions, and create a strong culture of incident analysis, similar to Safety & SHE incidents.
- Manage customer complaints, ensure timely resolution, and collaborate with suppliers to maintain quality standards.
- Plan and lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and followed through.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of lab equipment like GC, FTNIR, Viscometer, and titration systems.
- Mentor lab staff on chemical safety, testing techniques, and best practices to build a self-sufficient and skilled team.
- Work with planning and operations to minimize off-spec inventory and use statistical tools (SPC/SQC) to monitor process capabilities.
- Oversee safe handling of chemicals, control lab waste, and ensure environmental and health safety measures are in place.
- Assess raw material and packaging vendors to maintain high-quality sourcing standards.
- Take on other tasks as assigned by the Site Head to support business needs.
Required skills and experience
- 8 to 15 years in quality management or a related field, with hands-on experience in developing and managing a Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001. Familiarity with IATF 16949 is a plus!
- Strong experience conducting internal and external audits, including customer and supplier audits.
- A confident leader with great communication and listening skills, able to build strong relationships at all levels.
- Comfortable shifting between technical tasks and strategic decision-making based on daily operational needs.
- Strong result-driven mindset - Sets clear targets, measures success, and continuously pushes for improvement.
- Good Problem Solving & Analytical Skills; skilled in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other structured problem-solving methods.
- Strong understanding of statistical quality control, documentation, and corrective action tracking.
- A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment but isn’t afraid to take personal responsibility and tackle challenges head-on.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and fluent in English.
- Innovative Thinking – Always looking for better, smarter ways to achieve goals while balancing customer needs, cost-effectiveness, and business priorities.
Qualifications
- Education – A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry or a related field.
- Certifications – Quality Manager and Auditor certifications (especially ISO 9001) are a plus!
