Position overview

Join allnex as a Project Manager in Mahad, India to be the key player in our team and ensure that all project work aligns with our commitment to safety and compliance by adhering to allnex's SHE policies and the "Zero Harm" requirement. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that projects are completed in line with our business objectives and meet the rigorous standards of allnex Engineering. You'll also play a vital part in planning and implementing capital expenditures at our Mahad Site, overseeing the entire lifecycle of major projects, from engineering and procurement to construction management.

 

Beyond project completion, you will take on a leadership role at the site, contributing to the continuous improvement and operational excellence of our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the allnex Engineer for assigned capital projects, ensuring their safe, timely, and budget-compliant completion in alignment with business objectives and allnex Engineering and SHE Standards.
  • Responsibilities include collaborating with various engineering disciplines, such as Global Engineering, Process Engineering, and Process Control, as well as local management, to develop project scope documents.
  • Prepare specifications, conduct preliminary designs, create layouts and other drawings, oversee safety and change management reviews, secure necessary permits from regulatory authorities, and prepare cost and schedule estimates with ongoing tracking.
  • Manage procurement to ensure the quality and quantity of incoming materials, supervise contractors to maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and schedule compliance, review working drawings, construction details, and specifications against site plans, and coordinate corrections or modifications as needed, along with startup and commissioning activities.
  • Support the Mahad Capital Management process by identifying and proposing suitable investment opportunities and assisting Site Management with project cost estimation.
  • Provide monthly updates on project progress, costs, and forecasted total project costs.
  • Ensure proper Knowledge Management by maintaining project files, engineering drawings, specifications, and other records.
  • Comply with allnex Engineering Standards for Project Management and Project Engineering.
  • Take personal responsibility for adhering to company policies, contributing to a safe workplace, and supporting the allnex diversity program.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as requested by the manager.

Required skills and experience

  • At least 15 years of engineering experience, including 10 years as a Project Engineer/Manager in a chemical manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for experience in delivering large-scale phased greenfield or brownfield projects.
  • Experience in a multinational environment, involving frequent interactions with international colleagues and participation in virtual workshops, is an advantage.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Project Engineering within hazardous processing environments (Class 1 Div/Zone 1).
  • Basic understanding of various engineering disciplines.
  • Proven track record in managing contractors and executing projects on brownfield sites.
  • Familiarity with local authority permitting requirements.
  • Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and industry-specific regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant engineering standards.
  • Experience in engaging, reviewing, and managing EPCM contracts and various work contracts and contractors.
  • Solid understanding of and commitment to safety, occupational health, and environmental principles and practices.
  • Awareness of and commitment to intellectual property protection principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate teams of technicians, engineers, and contractors on projects.
  • Ability to collaborate with other company departments to support and promote new projects at the site.
  • Strong numeracy skills and a solid understanding of financial controls necessary to justify and manage projects.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in an Engineering discipline, preferably in Process or Mechanical Engineering.
