Position overview
Are you passionate about working in a laboratory environment, focusing on formulation preparation, material characterization, and meticulous documentation? We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the application and development of innovative resin systems products, contributing to both development projects and manufacturing support.

Responsibilities
- Product application & development – utilize expertise & experience to evaluate newly developed resin systems giving R&D insight & direction
- Project Management/NPD – involvement with technical pieces of development processes & key business elements for commercialization
- Technical Data – assist in the development/organization of technical & environmental data – technical data sheets, brochures and launch packages.
- Expertise – provide technical guidance and support to Sales and Marketing teams.
Required skills and experience
- 20+ years formulation – product development, formulation, structure-property relationships, etc. Preferred experience formulating & testing air dry and bake systems requiring highly durable and exterior properties. Experience in a production or manufacturing environment a plus.
- Experience working within a coatings and/or paint laboratory – milling pigments, formulation preparation, rheometers, material characterizations, coating application equipment, feasibility demonstrations, etc
- Understanding the practical aspects of laboratory & equipment safety – familiar with proper PPE, safety protocols, etc
- Proficiency in experimental planning and data analysis
Qualifications
- Extensive technical experience in coatings field.
- Formulation and utilization of equipment / techniques common in laboratory environment as well as manufacturing is a must.

Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Lab environment with some elements such as noise, dust, fumes, heat, safety hazards, etc.
- Requires inside and outside work, and some exposure to weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear a respirator when required.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate.
