Position overview
Are you passionate about working in a laboratory environment for formulation preparation, material characterizations, coating application and comparative benchmarking? We are looking for an Application Chemist that can gain in-depth understanding of the portfolio supplied by allnex, with regards to product performance and capabilities and its usage in coating applications. In this role, you will provide technical service to customers together with the Sales & Marketing team.

Responsibilities
- Product application & development – utilize expertise & experience to evaluate newly developed resin systems giving R&D insight & direction.
- Project Management/NPD – significant involvement with technical pieces of development processes & key business elements for commercialization.
- Portfolio knowledge – develop thorough understanding of allnex products – identify technology, typical use, business & market trends, value propositions, etc.
- Technical Data – assist in the development/organization of technical & environmental data – technical data sheets, brochures and launch packages.
- Expertise – provide technical guidance and support to Sales and Marketing teams.
- Represent the organization in forums and conferences within specific area of application expertise.
Required skills and experience
- 10 - 15 years formulation / application experience – product development, formulation, structure-property relationships, etc. Preferred experience formulating air dry and bake systems requiring highly durable and exterior properties. Experience in a production or manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Experience working within a coatings and/or paint laboratory – milling pigments, formulation preparation, rheometers, material characterizations, coating application equipment, feasibility demonstrations, etc
- Understanding the practical aspects of laboratory & equipment safety – familiar with proper PPE, safety protocols, etc.
- Proficiency in experimental planning and data analysis, documents and reports written in English.
- Availability to travel - expected travel time, domestic: 10-15%
Qualifications
- Master's or bachelor's degree in scientific field, chemistry preferred (polymer chemistry a plus).

- Must be able to wear a respirator when required.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate.
