Position overview
Are you passionate about working in a laboratory environment for formulation preparation, material characterization, composite application, and comparative benchmarking? We are looking for an Application Chemist to gain an in-depth understanding of our gelcoat and composite resin portfolio supplied by allnex, with regards to product performance, capabilities, and usage in composite applications. In this role, you will become the technical expert for gelcoat applications and work on projects to develop new technologies in accordance with market needs.

Responsibilities
- Become a technical expert in the fields of synthesis, formulation and application technology for gelcoats, unsaturated polyester (UPR) and vinyl ester (VE) resins and related composite and especially gelcoat applications.
- Lead gelcoats developments, contribute to Unsaturated Polyester Resins and Vinyl Ester projects. Initiate and implement continuous project and process optimization as well as cost optimization methods and also be involved in technical presentations about allnex products and conduct trainings to customers when needed.
- Focus on formulation of gelcoats. Eventually execute laboratory resins cooking. Execute evaluation, process support, instrumental analysis of resins and formulations.
- Ensure successful transfer and up-scaling of new products recipes to mass production.
- Perform laboratory products testing in terms of process and product specifications.
- Provide technical assistance to sales, technical service and production.
- Ensure intellectual property is protected and keep track of the IP landscape
- Maintain safe and regulatory compliant laboratory work environment in accordance to Good Laboratory Practice and through proper usage of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required skills and experience
- Experience in work related to gelcoats, Unsaturated Polyester Resins or Vinyl Ester.
- Knowledge in the field of composite materials.
- Fluent in English (writing and speaking).
Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry,Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field - preferred.
