Position overview
As a Production Supervisor, you will coordinate the duties of operators on your shift. These duties include improving safety, reducing costs, improving quality, maximizing the department's effectiveness through long-term planning and project implementation, providing appropriate training and development, ensuring consistent rollout of plant policies & procedures, and maintaining open communication and positive employee relations. In this role, you will also drive continuous improvement within your team. This is a night-shift position.
Responsibilities
- Ensures all Plant activities adhere to Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Standards, demonstrates Visible Safety Leadership through repeated Plant walkthroughs, immediately addresses any SHE issues or concerns.
- Oversees the Safety planning aspect of maintenance activities and non-routine tasks by leading Authorized Signing efforts such as Safety Work, Lockout-Tagout, Hot Work, Line Breaking, and Confined Space Entry Permitting.
- Maintains Security responsibilities as needed based on Guard Coverage; perform perimeter and facility checks as well as monitor activities of all individuals entering/leaving the premises.
- Executes Quality Assurance checks as needed based on QC Lab Coverage; conduct various laboratory analytical tests of raw materials, in-process material, and finished goods.
- Plans Employee Scheduling daily and communicates frequently with employees to review vacation requests and ensure adequate coverage of production units.
- Monitors Raw Material usage and communicates with local Raw Material Buyer and 3rd Party Railroad Service Provider to maintain adequate levels of materials for production.
- Provides coaching, and hands-on training on routine basis to employees on job-related tasks.
- Conducts tasks associated with multiple Computer Based Systems such as Work Order entry, payroll adjustments, production data entry, quality data entry, etc.
Required skills and experience
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Detailed, results oriented, and able to thrive in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written).
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and develop plans to execute to satisfy daily operational needs while maintaining focus on longer-term strategic needs.
- Proponent of continuous improvement and leading significant change efforts.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment, but willing to take a hands-on approach.
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to maintain composure and make sound decisions at all times.
- Strong interpersonal skills and must be able to establish relationships across all levels of the organization, both internal and external to the site.
- Good Microsoft Office Knowledge.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma is required.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
