Tire Development Lead APAC

Position overview

Are you passionate about shaping the future of high-performance tire and rubber materials? Join us at the Synthesis and Application Lab in Fengxian, Shanghai; where innovation drives everything we do. allnex is on the lookout for a Tire Development Lead (APAC) to spearhead our technology development initiatives—covering both polymer synthesis and application technologies—for next-generation tire and rubber additives.

In this key regional leadership role, you will guide technical strategies, collaborate closely with global R&D and business teams, and help position our portfolio for strong global growth. Your expertise will directly influence product performance, customer satisfaction, and long-term business success.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a safe, high-performance lab environment.
  • Lead development of next-gen tire & rubber additive technology.
  • Strengthen our tire technology expertise.
  • Grow talent in a dynamic, expanding team.
  • Drive open innovation with global partners.
  • Ensure top-notch project execution & reporting.
  • Support production transfers & organizational processes.
  • Lead product/process safety documentation.
  • Create & protect Intellectual Property (IP) that enables future growth.
  • Partner with Production, Quality Assurance & PSRA to deliver excellence.

Required skills and experience

  • 5+ years of experience in R&D functions with hands-on experience working in synthesis and developing resins and formulations.
  • 2+ years of experience in rubber & tire applications (preferably resin development).
  • Broad knowledge in the field of polymer chemistry and physics (incl. phenolic chemistry, structure-property relationships for polymers).
  • Experience with understanding GPC/IR/DSC and being able to interpret results.
  • Proven records in commercializing new products and transferring application profile into product designs.
  • Good communication skills with internal and external partners.
  • Good command in English and local language (Chinese).
  • Structured project management with reporting to stakeholders.
  • Break down broad perspective of market needs into specific development projects by mapping out process/structure/property relationships.
  • Takes initiative and focused on delivering top results.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related discipline.
