Pilot Plant Engineer

Position overview

Do you have strong communication and analytical skills and would like to advance your career by joining the leading coating resins company? We are looking for a Pilot Plant Engineer would be responsible for the scaling up of new products from Lab to Manufacturing. This helps us comprise the early follow ups of new products in development stage in the Lab, the transfer from Lab to Pilot by translating lab recipes in pilot recipes, instructing Pilot technicians on how to run the Pilot batches, interpret the results and optimize process conditions in feedback with Product Champion in R&D and finally transfer the product/process to Manufacturing. Pilot Plant is the intermediate step between R&D and production and is targeting: scale up of new products from R&D to industrial scale, production of small volumes (small scale production), support for production during testing of non-compliant products and process research (optimization processes and techniques). The pilot production consists of 12 reactors from 50 kg to 1.5 ton.

Responsibilities

  • Scale up of new RADCURE resins from lab scale to industrial scale 
  • Actively support the development of new products: evaluation of economic and technical feasibility in an early stage.
  • Actively supports technology transfer from site to site
  • Follow-up and research on process technology for specific chemistries
  • Development of new processes for existing as well as new products 
  • Optimization of the Pilot equipment

Required skills and experience

  • Chemical engineering training/background
  • Experienced working in Chemical or Oil & Gas is not mandatory but a plus
  • Process research experience or interest
  • Team player and cross-functional capabilities
  • High drive to achieve results, with a demonstrated track record of delivering results
  • Fluent in English (oral and written), good knowledge of Dutch and French.
  • Has a detailed understanding of chemical processes and equipment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on follow up and follow through
  • High flexibility in view of the great variability in cycle times of test batches
  • Knowledge of process engineering practices, strategies, techniques and constructions
  • Good computer skills: Microsoft Office, and process engineering / statistical software desirable
  • High energy and self-motivated
  • Acting as an interphase between different departments the Pilot Engineer must have social skills and must be hands-on.

 

Qualifications

  • Master Chemical Engineering Degree,
  • Master Chemistry with process experience,
  • Master in Bio Engineering or 10+ years of combined work experience in Process Designing or Process Optimization
