Position overview

We are looking for an analytical chemist for our R&D center in Drogenbos. Main responsibilities of this role include planning, developing and executing different analytical techniques of radiation curable products and others in the frame of research & development projects, manufacturing & pilot & QC support, regulatory compliance, patents and specific customers’ requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and develop reliable and accurate analyses (Gas and Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Spectroscopy, and others …) to support product development (R&D), solving customer questions (TS&D), troubleshooting (pilot, production), new regulations.
  • Autonomous work organization and priority setting within defined objectives & deadlines.
  • Maintenance of laboratory analytical techniques and workstations.
  • Development and validation of new analytical method(s) and/or procedures.
  • Keeps him/herself informed of new technological developments, methods and scientific literature in his/her own field of work.
  • Compliance with good laboratory practices and behavioral based safety. 
  • Data management, writing & presentation of analytical results/reports/methods. 
  • Adherence to quality, safety & environmental ISO procedures (calibration of equipment, test methods, etc.).
  • Active participation in specific job-related internal and/or external meetings or events.
  • Interest in working in an analytical lab environment implying hands-on-the-job realizations and problem-solving. 
  • Demonstrated team spirit and excellent communication skills.

Required skills and experience

  • Practical experience in analytical chemistry (Gas Chromatography and/or Mass Spectrometry and/or Spectroscopy).
  • Good knowledge of informatics and quantitative data analysis. 
  • Precise, rigorous, critical, creative and results-oriented personality with strong customer focus and structured mindset towards deliverables. 
  • Strong dedication to safety and quality standards. 
  • Multi-tasking, being able to flexibly work on multiple parallel projects. 
  • Fluent in the local languages: French and/or Dutch (FR/NL) and preferably also in English.
  • Good communication skills.
  • You are preferably based in the Brussels area or its surroundings.

Qualifications

Academic level education, preferably master’s degree or equivalent, in analytical, organic or polymer chemistry.
