Position overview

Do you enjoy working in the laboratories to conduct extensive tests and experiments aiming to develop new products and technologies? allnex invites you to join us as a R&D Chemist in Botany, Australia to develop new products and improving existing products in Composites and processes to meet our customer’s needs. With this great opportunity at allnex, you will carry out significant initiatives within the R&D function and provide technical support to key customers, sales, and operations when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, plan, carry out, and report progress on specific projects aimed at developing new products, new applications for current products, and improving existing products.
  • Interact with internal and external analytical teams to characterize the structure of new product developments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and launch new technologies
  • Provide timely and courteous technical service to customers when needed.
  • Responsible for the production of the products including prepare and distribute pilot and full-scale production formulation for new products.
  • Ensure working conditions and procedures in laboratories are in accordance with Company policies.
  • Plan, assign, and supervise the work of other employees as delegated by manager.
  • Provide guidance to colleagues on laboratory processes and test methods, as well as other Technical Laboratories operations.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in the laboratory and all daily operations are in accordance with the Technical Department Quality Manual and in comply with ISO standards.

Required skills and experience

  • Demonstrated work experience in Reinforced Plastics and Composites industry, including practical knowledge of a wide range of customer processes.
  • Solid understanding of practical polymer chemistry and its application to the development of dependable products.
  • Solid understanding of the properties and performance of polyester resins in a variety of applications.
  • Interest in working in a lab environment with practical work achievements and problem-solving. 
  • Strong team spirit combined with effective communication skills.
  • Creative personality, strong customer orientation and structured attitudes to deliverables.
  • Strong safety, quality standards and cultural skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills on experienced hires.
  • Good conceptual thinking skills, can translate complex concepts into clear communications.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform tasks, high drive in achieving results.
  • Well-developed feeling for business opportunities.
  • Knowledge, awareness of ISO compliance.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or Science is required.
