Position overview

allnex invites you to join us as an Application Scientist, based in Biên Hòa, Vietnam and you will gain in-depth understanding in Unsaturated Polyester Resins (URP), Gelcoats and Vinyl Ester Resins (VE). In this role, you will work closely with Sales and Technical Service team to support business growth and development for the composites and adhesives division.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesis and application development of Unsaturated Polyester Resins (URP), Gelcoats and Vinyl Ester Resins (VE).
  • Lead UPR, Gelcoat and VE development projects.
  • Testing and analysis of composites products and raw materials for development purposes, or to provide technical support to QC and production departments.
  • Develop and prepare laboratory samples.
  • Provide technical assistance to Production and QC departments.
  • Ensure successful transfer of new products to production. Including trial batch supervision.
  • Evaluation and implementation of product specifications for composite products.
  • Ensure all compliance related data is available for new products, including SDS and TDS.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is calibrated and fit for use.
  • Initiate and implement continuous project optimization/cost optimization activities.
  • Assist in inventory reworks or sell offs.
  • Perform technical presentations and promotions to customers, and provide training where required.
  • Collaborate with relevant functions and regions to support new business development.
  • Ensure all safety, environmental and regulatory compliance standards are met in accordance to policies and Good Laboratory Practice, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain AIMS data for product developments.
     

Required skills and experience

  • Proven years of experience in an industrial chemist position.
  • Broad knowledge of synthesis chemistry.
  • Experience or familiar with UPR/VE, gelcoats, FRP Composites materials is preferred.
  • Interest in working in a lab environment with practical work achievements and problem-solving. 
  • Good command in English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Excellent research skills and methodology.
  • Strong team spirit combined with effective communication skills.
  • Creative personality, strong customer orientation and structured attitudes to deliverables.
  • Strong safety, quality standards and cultural skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills on experienced hires.
  • Good conceptual thinking skills, can translate complex concepts into clear communications.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform tasks, high drive in achieving results.
  • Well-developed feeling for business opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or relevant Scientific field.
