Position overview
Are you passionate about working in a laboratory environment focused on innovative material synthesis, characterization, and application? We are seeking an experienced polymer synthesis chemist to support our R&D projects in waterborne technologies. In this role, you will also lead medium to long-term projects in new product and application development.

Responsibilities
- Actively participates in research departmental safety programs; ensures safe laboratory operations and utilizes all relevant safety processes.
- Deliver on R&D projects supporting the waterborne innovation strategy, and drive projects needed to meet the technical needs of the market and customers
- Primarily a hands-on polymer synthesis position, aligned with project and innovation goals.
- Ensure projects are well documented in our stage gate process, meeting defined timelines
- Responsible for successful scale-up of products from lab scale to pilot and production.
- Organize and present data and findings in both informal group meetings, and more formal technical and project review meetings.
- Investigate patentability of new products and processes and review new literature and patents on relevant technologies.
- Maintain a safe and regulatory compliant laboratory work environment in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice.
Required skills and experience
- 3 up to 7 years of experience in emulsion polymerization, or polyurethane dispersion, or other waterborne synthesis.
- Synthesis experience in coating resins – PUD, epoxy, alkyd, polyols, or acrylic emulsion.
- Working experience and prefer to industrial experience.
- Fluent in English writing and speaking.
Qualifications
- PhD or Master degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry or Materials Science.
