Chemist Intern (Fall 2026)

Internship Details

  • Project Duration: Up to 12 weeks (Fall 2026) – Late August/September until November.
  • Part time or full-time internship depending on availability.
  • Hours/Week: Between 20 to 40 hours.
  • Salary range: $20-$24 /hour based on experience and academic year.

Internship overview

Are you a student looking for an exciting internship opportunity to kick start your career in a global leading chemical company? We are looking for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and member of a talented and dynamic team. As a Chemist Intern you will be a part of our R&D team, working to provide assistance and support in developing new products and the day-to day tasks. You will also gain valuable insights and understanding of the full cycle of chemical processes of our company.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out laboratory responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner. Wear appropriate PPE, maintain good housekeeping, and comply with company safety, health and environment requirements.
  • Safely carry out chemical synthesis under guidance of Research Chemists in laboratory glass apparatus.
  • Understand the basic chemistries and applications of polymers and/or organic chemistry in coatings applications.
  • Plan and conduct experiments: synthesis, application and characterization.
  • Attention to details and accuracy of data.
  • Keep good documentation and report test results regularly including appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
  • Complete technical summary report and conduct presentation at the end of internship.

Required skills and experience

  • Hands-on synthesis experience in an academic and/or industry laboratory environment.
  • Basic organic chemistry understanding. Polymer chemistry background is preferred but not required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound analytical and conceptual thinking.
  • Self-starter & result driven with passion for meeting and exceeding expectations.

Qualifications

  • Currently working towards a BS/MS degree in the Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or related fields.
  • Experience working in a research laboratory setting on a related topic towards the degree requirements (BS/MS). Ideally, synthetic chemistry experience with independent experimental set up knowledge. An appropriate research experience for undergraduates (REU) program completion may also be acceptable.

  • Work Environment:    Lab environment with some elements such as noise, dust, fumes, heat, safety hazards, etc. Requires inside and outside work, and some exposure to weather conditions.  Must be able to wear a respirator when required.  The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate.
