Position overview

allnex is on the lookout for a Synthesis Chemist in our dynamic R&D team in Shimonoseki, Japan. With this exciting opportunity, you will gain hands-on experience in polymer synthesis and material characterization with extensive interaction with colleagues in other geographical regions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan synthesis experiments in cooperation with supervisor
  • Discuss and demonstrate understanding of chemical intent
  • Safely carry out chemical synthesis under preestablished procedures
  • Closely monitor synthesis experiments while keep written recording of process steps and observations, execute material characterization of resulting product and summarize reports
  • Participate in technical discussions with colleagues and supervisors, where experimental results need to be presented
  • May assist in setting up and executing analytical test series (HPLC, GPC, GC)

Required skills and experience

  • 3-5 years of working experience in a laboratory environment, specializing in synthesis and material characterization
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC and GPC would be a plus
  • Demonstrate proficiency in experimental execution, data analysis, document results, record keeping
  • Good organizational skills including the preparation and execution of lab experiments
  • Ability to define project and collaborate with team members to deliver goals on schedule, project management experience is a plus
  • Highly self-motivated and eager to learn, willing to deal with the stress in complex situations
  • Good communication skills with multidisciplinary teams across different locations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or higher in chemistry, or related scientific fields with technical experience in polymer chemistry, material characterizations and coating industry technology
