Position overview

The laboratories of the Corporate Innovation Group play a central role in supporting the global business of allnex with in-depth research into the fundamentals of our products and their applications, and in exploring new technology concepts aimed at introducing next generation products and maximizing performance and sustainability impact of our products. You will be part of a small (10) dynamic team of colleagues and trainees in our laboratory in Wageningen.

Are you a talented chemist, looking for a challenging position in R&D for an international company? This role offers an excellent opportunity to be immersed in the broad field of coatings related chemistry, processing and materials science.


  • Work in projects aimed at novel innovative products, their preparation, characterization and the relation with their application performance. 
  • Plan and contribute experiments aimed at finding suitable synthetic and process routes, supported with chemical and physical analyses of the resulting materials.
  • Being able to engage with novel, non-standard ideas, using a broad range of organic chemistry  and polymer chemistry concepts, with associated analyses, and material performance evaluations.
  • Flexibility in parallel dealing with multiple exploratory projects, either aimed at determining idea flexibility or at initial optimization steps.
  • Reporting and presentation of results.
  • Guiding & supporting colleagues and trainees for specific focus topics.
  • Contribute to organization and maintenance of laboratory systems and equipment.
  • A role in maintaining SHE aspects of the laboratory operation, preferably open to involvement in the BHV (first responder) organization of the multi-company building in which we are housed.

Required skills and experience

We are keen to find candidates that fit in this role, either as ambitious chemists looking for starting a career post-graduation, or for chemists that already have acquired on-the-job experience in organic, polymer, or colloid chemistry. We are looking for:

  • Creativity, flexibility and pragmatic result-orientation
  • Ability to multi-task, to flexibly work on multiple parallel projects
  • Good communication skills (verbal & written), also in English.
  • Affinity for supporting and improving SHE-aspects of laboratory
  • A team player!


  • A bachelor degree (‘HBO’) in organic/polymer/colloid chemistry or process technology, or equivalent experience
