Position overview
Are you a highly motivated individual with interest and knowledge in the logistics field? Join our team in Melaka as a Logistics Specialist today! You will play a key role in managing and coordinating the company's import, export, and local delivery operations. You will also manage custom permits, import and export declarations, and oversee the application of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) cost analysis and certificates of origin to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage full sets of export documents, ensuring timely dispatch of original shipping documents to customers.
- Coordinate with forwarding agents to arrange Dangerous Goods (DG) cargo shipments based on stock availability.
- Verify draft Bill of Lading for accuracy before finalizing to prevent customs clearance issues.
- Apply demurrage and detention periods as per customer requests.
- Address customer complaints regarding container damage or other issues with forwarders.
- Ensure the MITI cost analysis for FTA countries is up to date and available for the Preferential Certificate of Origin for exports.
- Synchronize export collections with import cargo to optimize transportation costs and efficiency, and select alternative transporters when necessary.
- Monitor order progress by coordinating with production planners and providing timely updates to Customer Service on potential delivery delays.
- Collaborate with the Warehouse team to organize goods for delivery.
- Verify and process Letters of Credit, advising customers on amendments and ensuring timely dispatch of documents through the bank.
- Arrange on-site inspections with agents and manage the necessary documentation for countries with specific requirements (e.g., Bangladesh).
- Handle customer sample requests by checking stock availability and liaising with the Warehouse for preparation.
- Prepare labels and required documents (invoice, packing list, COA, SDS, TDS) for sample delivery.
- Coordinate air shipments for sample deliveries with forwarders and provide status updates to Sales and Customer Service teams.
- Arrange local deliveries, prepare warehousing documents, and coordinate with Customer Service, Warehouse, and QC to ensure timely and cost-efficient deliveries.
- Manage import documentation and liaise with forwarders to ensure timely clearance and transportation of imports to the plant without incurring demurrage charges.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable import, export, and trade laws in countries where the company operates.
- Stay informed on Dangerous Goods shipping requirements.
- Generate monthly logistics reports.
Required skills and experience
- Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience in logistics, supply chain, import & export shipping functions in a similar industry
- Knowledge in SAP is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft applications
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Team player who can also work independently
- Proactive and a problem solver
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics or equivalent
- APICS certification is an advantage
