Position overview

Are you interested to use creative abilities and research methods to improve existing products based on industry trends and develop new products to meet the needs of the company’s target market? allnex is very excited to inform you, we have a great career opportunity in Shanghai, China to be our Regional R&D Manager and support our customers in their development activities and promote our innovative technologies. In this role, you will manage the Radcure research and development resources to deliver on regional innovation strategy targets and promote allnex innovations. You will enhance local formulation and application skills following a robust project management process and manage the development portfolio of projects through technical assessment of new opportunities and resource allocation. You are also responsible to provide technical support to key Radcure customers in the region to enhance customer intimacy and grow Radcure’s share at those accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe operation and productivity of the Radcure R&D team in China with compliance of all national, local and company environmental and safety regulations.
  • Manage China R&D Radcure laboratory and prepare for internal and external audits.
  • Drive upscaling process from lab to China pilot reactor, targeting highest in-spec rate and optimal utilization rate.
  • Assess and challenge in depth the technical and commercial viability of new ideas as a member of RRM (regional project review meeting).
  • Help developing regional business strategy and drive continuous improvements in Shanghai lab infrastructure towards new business needs.
  • Allocate resources across Radcure segments in line with growth prioritization and ensures delivery “on time in full”.
  • Enhance synergetic collaboration cross-functionally within the regions and increase technical feasibility.
  • Ensure a healthy balance of risk and potential in the local development project portfolio and balances business growth with cost savings initiatives for raw material and process improvements.
  • Manage and support China Radcure R&D team, including setting objectives and driving achievement of performance objectives.
  • Develop the skills and competences of the China Radcure technical community and be results driven.
  • Develop and support project leaders to reach the development project targets.
  • Establish new, and improve existing technical competencies of China Radcure organization closer to level in EMEA and AM regions.
  • Represent and actively participate the organization in meetings with technical decision makers at strategic/key customers, academic and business forums and conferences.
  • Develop and maintains competence in Radcure Technology, keeps abreast of significant technology advances.
  • Be the mentor of the team to encourage their development work for patent filing, and a mindset change.
  • Create a global network across functions and across technologies within allnex.

Required skills and experience

  • 5 -10 years solid experience in R&D or Technical Service field from inks, paints or coating resins market/industry.
  • Strong experience in people management and leadership skills.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin languages, both written and oral.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Strong conceptual thinking abilities, ability to translate complex concepts into clear communications.
  • High drive to achieve results, with a demonstrated track record of delivering results.
  • Technical and business acumen in a dedicated market segment.
  • Problem solver with customer focus mindset.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Master Degree or PhD in Chemistry or equivalent.
