Position overview

The local IT Operations Lead is responsible for the local IT Infrastructure and the single point of contact for all IT related matters within the region. In this role you will work closely with your local customers as well as global teams and other regions, ensuring an impeccable user-experience and stable IT infrastructure. You will have a significant autonomy and responsibilities within your scope (3 manufacturing sites and one office in Germany).
In achieving your goals, you can count on a local team of field engineers as well as the support of a strong global organization!

The purpose of the role is to be the face of IT in Germany by

  • Participating in global projects or leading local projects where IT is required: advising on topic and action IT specific items (E.g., Office Expansions, Moves, Network Projects, ERP Roll-Outs).
  • Taking ownership & initiative over local IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable and user-friendly IT equipment and backend-infrastructure (Up-to-date & tidy conferencing rooms, reliable data rooms & network infrastructure).
  • Assisting, advocating & guiding local stakeholders in the global IT organization, supporting them with any IT related inquiry. 
  • Overseeing the team of field engineers and capacity management. 
  • Managing local budget, vendors and contracts end-to-end.
  • Report back to both global IT as well as local stakeholders and customers.

Required skills and experience

  • Bachelor Degree in IT or sound knowledge in IT gained through work experience. 
  • Previous experience in the manufacturing / chemicals industry is considered an asset.
  • Certifications in the area of project management (Prince2, PMBOK, SAFE) and/or IT operations (ITIL) are considered an asset.
  • All-round sound, broad and hands-on IT expertise (PCs, networks, physical IT infrastructure, etc.).
  • Strong self-organizing, coordination, communication and presentation skills and the ability to translate technical matters to a non-IT public, on all seniority levels, including c-level.
  • Can-do-mentality, hands-on and not shy to help and assist end-users.
  • Fluent German and English language skills.
