Production Reactor Operator

Position overview

The duties of a reactor operator consist of weighing and loading of raw material into reactor. Production of batches in reactors using heating and cooling, monitoring of heating and cooling graphs, analyzing of samples doing viscosity checks and other quality or production related testing. Filtering and filling out of finished batches into drums tank wagons and tote wagons.

Responsibilities

• Supports ISO standards, environmental and quality programs.

• Staging of raw materials for upcoming batches.

• Loading of hoppers, weigh tanks and reactors.

• Learning and performing proper disposal of all empty raw material containers.

• Cleaning the 1st, 2nd, 3rd floor reactor areas, control rooms #1 and #2 and the lunchrooms.

• Learning all raw materials used in the batches, the proper storage locations, and safe handling procedures and techniques.

• Learn reactor set-up, check cut procedures and become familiar with all of the batch processes.

• Learn and follow all safety procedures and waste handling procedures.

• Ensures that all safety and housekeeping procedures are followed.

• Performs other duties as required
 

Required skills and experience

High school or equivalent experience. (some college credits or Associates / Bachelors Degree in chemistry field prefered)

Qualifications

• Strong communications and interpersonal skills, including working as a team, following verbal and written instructions 

• Long periods of standing, walking and some sitting.

• Ability to wear certified safety equipment as required.

• Lifting capability of up to 60 pounds.

• Climbing ladders, stooping and pulling hoses of up to 60 lbs.

• Rolling metal drums approximately 500 lbs.
