Position overview

Are you a talented professional with a keen interest in pursuing a career in R&D? And are you looking for a challenging position in an international company where you can make a difference? 
We are looking for an experienced polymer chemist and project leader to join our team in a role of Senior Chemist Resins Synthesis. The main responsibilities for this role include the management of new product development projects and technical support to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on Research and Development projects supporting the innovation strategy in line with the business strategy.
  • Drive research and product development projects needed to meet the technical needs of market and customers.
  • Guide chemists and technicians on laboratory resins cooking, paint application and evaluation, process support, instrumental analysis.
  • Ensure that all projects are well documented using a stage gate innovation process and meeting defined stage gate timelines.
  • Responsible for the successful scale-up of products from laboratory to production.
  • Be involved in technical presentations about allnex products and conduct trainings to customers when needed.
  • Investigate patentability of new products and processes and review new literature and patents on relevant technologies.

Required skills and experience

  • Expert in organic chemistry and previous work experience in the area of polymer synthesis and coating application (emulsion polymerisation would be an advantage)
  • Experience in leading R&D projects and working with multi-functional teams of people/networks 
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven creativity and innovativeness, able to recognize new and promising technical developments with strategic potential
  • Results oriented personality, keen alertness and drive to succeed
  • Multi-tasking, being able to flexibly work on multiple parallel projects, pro-active, drive for improvement.
  • Fluent in English, ability to communicate in Dutch is an advantage
  • Evidence of good communication skills and of building good relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Active reader of relevant open scientific literature as well as patent literature

Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry
