Position overview
Are you ready to join an amazing team? As allnex continues to expand and prioritize the protection of our innovative technologies and IP assets, we are seeking an experienced U.S. Patent Agent to join our global intellectual property team. You will perform a variety of patent-related activities working closely with the US-based and global R&D and business teams within allnex.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Inventors & R&D Teams to identify and capture inventions, ensuring we stay at the forefront of innovation.
- Evaluate Patentability & IP with business objectives, driving our competitive advantage.
- Prepare, Draft, & File Patent Applications with the USPTO and patent offices worldwide.
- Guide Patent applications through the allowance process crafting responses to Office Actions from the USPTO and international patent offices, securing patent rights efficiently.
- Perform Comprehensive IP Landscape Analyses to identify risks and opportunities, helping to navigate competitive patents and emerging technologies.
- Support Freedom-to-Operate & Validity Assessments to enable new product launches with confidence in global markets.
- Collaborate with our Legal Team in drafting IP agreements, like secrecy and joint development agreements with other companies, to defend and support our IP interests.
- Foster IP Awareness & Engagement by promoting intellectual property best practices within our global R&D and business teams, empowering them to make informed decisions.
- Ensure Compliance with evolving patent laws and maintain an up-to-date understanding of both U.S. and international IP regulations.
Required skills and experience
- At least 5 years of experience in conducting patentability studies, in preparing and drafting patent applications suitable for international filings, and in US and international patent prosecution.
- Solid technical background and either a master’s degree or PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent, ideally in polymer or organic chemistry disciplines, and having experience in industrial R&D or Technical Services.
- Experience in patent landscaping.
- Previous in-house patent experience is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills and communication skills (fluent in both verbal and written English).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, to work in a collaborative and efficient manner, as part of a global team.
- Highly motivated, with the ability to pro-actively organize the workload and to meet deadlines.
- Well organized, with a strong sense of responsibility.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree level or PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent, ideally with specific experience in polymer or organic chemistry disciplines.
- Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
